1. Who we are

BookSignal is operated by BookSignal LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company (“we,” “our,” or “us”). Our service is available at booksignal.app.

2. Information we collect

• Account information: email address, author name or display name, and password (stored as a secure hash by our auth provider, Supabase).
• Manuscript files: EPUB or PDF files you upload. These are stored securely and processed to generate book analysis reports.
• Reading preferences: genre preferences, trope preferences, pacing and tone preferences collected during onboarding, and behavioral signals (books added to shelf, books skipped).
• Usage data: pages visited, features used, and device/browser information collected via PostHog analytics.

3. How we use your information

• To provide and improve the BookSignal service.
• To generate AI-powered book intelligence reports for authors.
• To match readers with books based on their taste profiles.
• To send transactional emails (account confirmation, recommendation digests).
• To analyze usage patterns and improve the platform.

4. Data sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with the third-party services necessary to operate BookSignal:

• Supabase — authentication and database hosting
• Anthropic — AI analysis of manuscript content
• Resend — transactional email delivery
• PostHog — product analytics
• Vercel / Railway — application and worker hosting

5. Data retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by emailing contact@booksignal.app. Manuscript files are retained to support the book listing; they are deleted when you remove your book from the catalog.

6. Cookies

We use cookies strictly for authentication (session management via Supabase) and analytics (PostHog). We do not use advertising cookies.

7. Your rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data. To exercise any of these rights, email contact@booksignal.app.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or a prominent notice on the site. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance.
