Discoverability is broken.

Every major platform has the same problem.

Amazon rewards ad spend

Bestseller velocity is a catch-22 for new and mid-list authors. Without an existing audience or a large ad budget, it’s nearly impossible to break through.

Metadata recommendations miss your book

Goodreads, BookBub, and similar platforms rely on author-supplied metadata. If your book doesn’t fit the dominant subgenre in your category, it gets buried.

The noise problem

Thousands of new books are uploaded every day, including a flood of low-quality bookslop. This makes it harder than ever for quality human-written books to stand out, and harder for readers to trust what they find.

Keyword gaming is exhausting

Time spent optimizing Amazon keywords and category placements is time not spent writing. And the game changes constantly.

The BookSignal Commitment

Let your book speak for itself.

No more keyword guessing or category gaming

BookSignal builds a fingerprint from the full text of your manuscript. Readers find your book based on what’s actually in it: your tropes, characters, themes, and writing style, not who paid for placement.

Readers arrive warm

Because BookSignal drives traffic through detailed taste-profile matching, the readers who find your book are already predisposed to love it. Higher engagement, better reviews, more genuine fans, not browsers who bought based on a genre label and bounced.

A catalog readers can trust

BookSignal charges a nominal fee for listings, which keeps out scammers and bookslop. The result is a higher-quality catalog that readers know they can rely on, which means more trust in every book they find.

Direct sales support

BookSignal encourages readers to buy directly from authors. Include your direct store link and it’s featured prominently, keeping more money in your pocket and building your direct relationship with readers.

What happens after you sign up

From account creation to live listing in under 24 hours.

01

Create your account

Sign up with your email address and author name. You'll receive a confirmation email. Your account is not active until you confirm it.

02

Upload your manuscript

From your author dashboard, upload your EPUB or PDF along with your book title, author byline, and store links. At least one store link is required. You will also be able to upload your book cover image (minimum 750×1200px).

03

BookSignal builds your fingerprint

The AI pipeline reads every chapter of your manuscript and builds a 22-dimensional Book Fingerprint. This takes a few minutes for most books.

04

You're live

Within 24 hours you'll receive an email confirming your listing is live. Your book is immediately discoverable by readers whose taste profiles match.

BookSignal is for any author who cares about matching the right book to the right reader, indie, small press, or traditionally published. If you publish books people will love, you belong here.

Common questions

Is my manuscript safe?

Yes. Your manuscript is used to build a Book Fingerprint and is not stored permanently, shared with readers, or used for any other purpose.

Do you require the full manuscript or just an EPUB?

The analysis requires a full EPUB or PDF. The file is not kept after the analysis is complete.

Are uploaded books used to train AI models?

No. Manuscripts you submit to BookSignal are processed via Anthropic's commercial API. Under Anthropic's commercial terms, your content is never used to train AI models. It is retained briefly for abuse detection purposes (up to 7 days) and then deleted. BookSignal itself does not share manuscript content with any third parties. The book fingerprint (the analysis result) does become public on the website, and anything published online may eventually be scraped into training datasets, but the manuscript itself will not.

Who owns the analysis generated from the manuscript?

The analysis produces a structured data object stored in the site database, and a Book Intelligence Report that will be available in the Author Success Toolkit. Since the analysis is generated by AI, it is not copyrightable. You are welcome to use the results however you see fit.

Can authors remove their books and data later?

Yes. You can remove your book and data from the dashboard at any time. You can also contact me directly and I will remove your data from the back end.

When does the Beta Offer end?

The Beta Offer closes after the first 500 signups or at the end of the public beta period, whichever comes first.

What does it cost after the 3 months?

Standard pricing applies: as low as $9/month per book on an annual plan, or $12/month on a month-to-month basis. You can cancel at any time before the free period ends with no charge. See the pricing page for full details.

What happens when beta ends? Will there be author fees?

The beta offer is a free listing for 90 days. After that time (or for additional books) continued listing is $12/month, or $9/month if paid annually. It is not an automatic rollover, and no payment information is collected at signup. You have the full 90-day beta window to decide whether continued listing is worth it to you. If you decide not to continue, your book is removed from the public listing at the end of the beta period, and you can delete your account if you choose.

How is this different from BookBub or Goodreads?

BookBub sends genre-based email blasts to subscribers: there's no individual reader matching. Goodreads relies on author-supplied metadata and popularity. BookSignal reads the full text of your book and matches it to readers based on what's actually inside it.

Can I list multiple books?

The Beta Offer covers one book per author. Additional books are available at standard pricing. The Beta Offer cannot be split across multiple titles. If you have a large backlist, see our Publishers page for bulk upload and managed account services.

I'm a small press or publisher: can I list multiple titles?

Yes. Small presses and publishers are welcome. Each title is priced individually. For larger catalogs, visit our Publishers page to learn about bulk upload and managed account options.

Is BookSignal only for indie authors?

No. BookSignal is open to any author or publisher who wants their books matched to the right readers. Indie, small press, and traditionally published authors are all welcome.
